A village head and his wife have been abducted by gunmen at Araromi village in Bakatari area of Ibadan, Oyo state.
TheCable learnt that Tafa Apanpa, head of the Araromi village in Ido LGA, and his wife were abducted by the assailants on Tuesday night.
The incident is said to have heightened tension among the residents of the village.
Confirming the incident, Adewale Osifeso, the Oyo state police spokesperson, told TheCable that the incident happened on Tuesday.
He said police are making efforts to rescue the victims and to arrest the kidnappers.
“The incident happened very late on Tuesday 22nd of June, 2021 at Araro village. Efforts are in top gear to rescue both victims and as well apprehend the abductors, please,” he said.
Cases of kidnapping have been on the rise across the country. But the security agencies have assured Nigerians that they are responding to the situation.
