Mrs Binta Masi is the first female party chair in Adamawa State.
She made history on Wednesday when she was elected unopposed as the chair of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Masi, a former member of the House of Representatives, was endorsed at the rescheduled state congress of the party following the withdrawal of two of her opponents.
Gov Murtala Nyako had on Tuesday appealed to party supporters to vote Masi as party chair, describing her as “capable and competent”.
She is from the Madagali/Michika constituency of the state and was a Peoples Democratic Party’s lawmaker in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2011.
Born on April 4, 1967, she is married and holds a higher national diploma in Marketing.
