Oladipupo Oladimeji, the Nigerian rapper fondly called Oladips, has claimed he is a better rapper than Olamide, the YBNL label boss.

During a Q&A session with fans, Oladips was asked who he idolises.

In response, the rapper acknowledged Olamide as an inspiration but argued that he raps better than him.

“Olamide! But I Rap Pass Am,” he wrote.

His response drew mixed reactions from fans who felt he was trying to create unnecessary tension between himself and Olamide.

Oladips’ claim comes amid the ongoing argument about musical superiority between Wizkid and Davido.

Davido recently called Wizkid’s career “dead”, while the latter countered by calling the former an “influencer with a songwriter”.

Oladips was involved in a separate controversy last year when he claimed to have died for three days.

The rapper began his music career in 2012 with a cover of ‘Successful’ by Drake featuring Trey Songz.

He is known for songs such as ‘Ajala’, ‘Mainland 2 Island’ featuring Zlatan, and ‘Lalakukulala’ featuring Reminisce.

Olamide, on the other hand, is revered as one of the biggest artistes in Nigeria.

He has received numerous awards and nominations throughout his career.

Most recently, in November 2023, he was featured on Asake’s hit song ‘Amapiano’, which earned a Grammy nomination for ‘Best African Music Performance’.
