ICYMI: Lagos CP redeploys DPO for allowing nightclub breach COVID protocol

Hakeem Odumosu, commissioner of police in Lagos, has redeployed a divisional police officer (DPO) for allegedly aiding COVID-19 protocol violators in the state.

In a statement, Muyiwa Adejobi, the command spokesperson, said the DPO and senior officials of the division were redeployed for allowing night clubbing at the Garbana Club on Sunday.

He said the police commissioner asked DPOs to enforce compliance to COVID-19 protocol in their areas.

“The DPO, Ajao Estate Division, and his senior officers in the division have been redeployed to a yet-to-be disclosed offices in the state for allowing night clubbing at the Garbana Club on Sunday, March 7, 2021,” Adejobi said.

“The state Commissioner of Police made the pronouncement while addressing officers, Area Commanders and DPOs at the POWA Hall, Oduduwa, Ikeja, on Monday, March 8, 2021.

“Earlier, the CP, Hakeem Odumosu, had warned Area Commanders and DPOs to enforce COVID-19 protocols in their areas and that on no account should any of them allow gross violation of the protocols, but many violate these protocols with impunity.”

The spokesperson said the commissioner has vowed to go after people who flout the law by converting their residential properties to nightclubs.

On Monday, officers from the command arrested 113 people in two nightclubs in the state for violating the COVID-19 protocol.
