The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar of JAMB, announced the release of the UTME results at a press conference held at the board’s headquarters in Abuja on Monday.
Oloyede said the examination body had withheld the results of 64,624 candidates for possible infractions.
The JAMB registrar added that the board was investigating the withheld results.
“A total of 1,989,668 candidates registered for the examination, 24.7% higher than the figure for the year 2023. Of the 1,989,668 registered, 1,904,189 were present and verified, 2,899 were present but unverified, 80,810 were absent,” Oloyede said.
“The Board is today releasing the results of 1,842,464 candidates. 64,624 results are under investigation for reasons of: Under Investigation on Verification (2, 896), Procedural Investigation of Candidates (4, 594), Centre Based Investigation (57, 056) in 18 Centres: Edo 12; Akwa Ibom 3; Delta 2 and Kwara 1; and Alleged Examination Misconduct (78).
“Out of the 1,842,464 released results, a paltry 0.4% scored above 300 while 24% scored 50% (200/400) and above.
“We will continue to give our best irrespective of what others do as the Government has given us a responsibility and we will not shy away from it.
“For us, in the not-too-distant future, we hope to see an examination cycle that would be completely devoid of infractions.”
Last week, a father and his son were arrested for alleged impersonation during the UTME.
