Senate President Bukola Saraki; Yakubu Gowon, former military head of state; and Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, were among the dignitaries that witnessed the swearing in of Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo state.

Cromwell Idahosa, chief judge of the state, administered the oath of office on Obaseki at exactly 12:25pm.

The historic occasion took place at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin, the state capital.
