Justices Adeniyi Ademola and Nnamdi Dimgba have resumed their duties at the federal high court Abuja, after their homes were raided by the Department of State Services (DSS).
The homes of judges’, including those of Ademola and Dimgba, were raided by the DSS on October 7 on allegations of corruption.
The DSS alleged that it recovered huge sums in various currencies and denominations.
However, in a letter dated October 11 and addressed to Mahmoud Mohammed, chief justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ademola said he was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) because he granted Sambo Dasuki bail and freed Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) leader.
“On the money recovered in my absence, they were unable to tell me the exact amount recovered,” he said.
Ademola said he saw his arrest as revenge from Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation (AGF), whose arrest and detention he ordered over a professional misconduct while he was judge in Kano between 2004 and 2008.
Also, Dimgba, who was not arrested by the DSS but had his house ransacked, said a judgement he was meant to deliver the following week was carted away.
The invasion into Dimgba’s home followed his berating of the DSS in open court.
However at the court on Tuesday, Ademola presided over the cases: Federal Government of Nigeria versus Abubakar Mohammed, and ANOR and Chukwudi Obiakor versus IGP and ANOR, amongst others.
Although the court registrar in Dimgba’s court was uncooperative to disclose the cases he presided over, it was confirmed that he had resumed his duties.
