Comic great and renowned Nollywood actor, Basorge Tariah Jnr, and Nollywood leading lady, Kate Henshaw, are returning to the small screen as Africa Magic premieres its new Pidgin English sitcom, DoGood, on Monday, July 6, 2015.

DoGood, is a spin-off of the popular Nigerian drama series of the 1990s, Candlelight, which older TV viewers would remember nostalgically.

The 90’s soap always had an interesting dynamic between the maid (played by Kate Henshaw) and DoGood (played by Basorge). In this new show, DoGood returns from a sojourn abroad to woo his sweetheart Emem, played by Kate Henshaw.

DoGood also tells a story of love and ambition and focuses on the struggles of the ordinary man. It is a humorous depiction of real life situations.

Kate Henshaw, one of Nigeria’s most iconic actors, shared her excitement with TheCable and also talked about her history with Basorge.

“It is a lovely feeling to be able to reprise the role of Emem. I especially love the character immensely,” she said.

“Basorge and I have remained friends over the past 15 years plus, but not had a chance to be in front of the camera apart from anchoring events together sometimes. It is great to get back in the saddle working with him. He is a true professional.”

“Every aspect of the series is going to be exciting. Apart from Basorge and I, there are new characters in the series portrayed by very talented and young new actors. It is definitely going to keep audiences glued to their seats”.

A Multichoice representative, Efosa Aiyevbomwan, told TheCable: “The show is an opportunity for a rebirth of those characters for the older audiences and also re-introducing the younger audience to classic characters and content.

“So the idea for DoGood came about as a means of increasing the options for Africa Magic’s viewers. Do-good is a first of its kind Pidgin English sitcom, and promises to be a hit with audiences.

“Kate and Basorge were more than thrilled to reprise their memorable roles as Emem and Do-good respectively.

“The characters have evolved significantly from where most viewers remember them. Do-good returns from his travels to woo his sweetheart Emem. What happens afterwards is a series of comedic events.

“The evolution of the characters and where they are now, in conjunction with the funny instances and situations that characterize their relationship, definitely makes for good viewing. The new show holds many exciting and surprising moments for viewers.”
