Umar Abubakar, the house of representatives member-elect for Katsina federal constituency, has died exactly five days ahead of the inauguration of the eight assembly.

Abubakar was a member of the national assembly and got re-elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a second term.

Aged 64, he died in his Katsina home in the early hours of Wednesday and has been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

Mannir Yakubu, deputy governor of the state and Mustapha Inuwa, chairman of the APC  in Katsina, have condoled with the family.

Abubakar is survived by one wife, five children and three grandchildren.

The eight assembly would be inaugurated on June 9.
