The Kaduna state police command has arrested two suspected kidnappers.

The suspects are said to be members of a gang who disguised as women and attacked Kofar-Gayan area in Zaria on Sunday.

Two women were abducted during the attack, while four residents sustained injuries.

Mohammed Jalige, Kaduna police spokesman, confirmed the incident to NAN in Zaria on Monday.

He said the police are on top of the situation, adding that investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Narrating the incident, Haruna Sani, husband to one of the housewives, said he received a call around 10pm on Sunday that kidnappers had invaded his house.

He said he alerted the police who responded immediately and engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel for about 25 minutes.

Sani said some of the kidnappers, however, succeeded in abducting his wife, his neighbour’s wife, and her three children.

He said the three children were subsequently rescued, adding that four residents were injured when the kidnappers shot at his daughter as she fled the scene of the attack.

He also noted that the kidnappers were dressed in female outfits and left underwear and hijabs in his neighbour’s house before they escaped.

Muhammadu Buhari, a resident who witnessed the attack, said three of those shot were his students, while the fourth victim was his neighbour.
