A statement issued in Ilorin by Demola Olanrewaju, the deputy chief press secretary to the governor, said the special advisers, senior special assistants, special assistants, and members of boards of parastatals are also affected by the dissolution.

The statement quoted Ahmed as thanking members of the council, his former aides and all other political office holders for their invaluable service to his administration and the people of the state.

The governor also wished the former commissioners and aides all the best in their future endeavours.

Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, had also announced the dissolution of the state executive council, during its valedictory session.

President Muhammadu Buhari, however, directed all ministers to remain in office until May 28.

Buhari said his decision to retain his cabinet ministers in the last three and half years in spite of pressures from some quarters is because of their unique skill, strength and leadership qualities.
