Lagos quarantines four children who just returned from US

The Lagos state government has placed four children under quarantine over their contact with a coronavirus patient.

Akin Abayomi, the state commissioner for health, announced this at a press conference on Wednesday.

He said the four children and two adults have been quarantined at the Mainland Hospital, Yaba.

The four children and their teacher had flown from US, while the other adult flew into the country from the UK.

“Four children and their teacher who flew into the country from the United States, plus another man who flew in from the United Kingdom have been quarantined at the Mainland Hospital, Yaba,” he said.

“The four children and their teacher were quarantined after coming in contact with an infected person.”

Nigeria recorded its index case on February 24 after an Italian entered the country on a business trip.

A second case has also been confirmed.

The virus which broke out in Wuhan, China, in December, has infected over 100,000 persons.
