Many fighters of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) have reportedly been killed in air strikes launched by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in Borno.

The air strikes, which were conducted by the air component of the north-east joint task Operation Hadin Kai, took place at Mobbar LGA, Borno state.

According to Zagazola Makama, a country-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, NAF received reports on influx of the ISWAP terrorists into the country from the Nigeria-Niger border.

The NAF officers were said to have traced the movement of the terrorists to Asagar village in Borno, where they had gathered to prepare their attack.

Many ISWAP commanders were reportedly injured and killed during the operation.

The publication reports that the latest operation is the fourth major successful offensive against ISWAP and Boko Haram within the last seven days.

In September, over 100 suspected ISWAP members were reportedly killed  at Bukar Mairam in Marte LGA of Borno.
