The Katsina police command says its officers repelled terrorists’ attacks along Sabuwa-Mararabar Yakawada road, Sabuwa LGA of the state.

The terrorists were said to have stormed the area on motorcycles on Wednesday.

Gambo Isah, the command’s spokesperson, said officers were mobilised following a report of terrorists’ presence in the area.

He said it is feared that many of the terrorists were killed or have sustained injuries during a gun fight with police officers.

“On receipt of the report, DPO Sabuwa division led a tactical unit to the area and engaged the hoodlums into a fierce gun duel. The team successfully repelled the terrorists from their heinous mission,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

“In the course of scanning the scene, a terrorist was neutralized, one AK-47 rifle and four of their operational motorcycles were recovered.

“It is feared that many terrorists were neutralized and others escaped the scene with gun shots wounds. Investigation is ongoing.”

In August, the Katsina police repelled attacks by suspected terrorists in Dadawa and Barkiya villages, Kurfi LGA of the state.

Many of the terrorists were also feared to have been killed while others suffered injuries.
