Kemi Adeosun, minister of finance, has expressed sadness over the death of Olutoyin Olakunrin, describing the pioneer female chartered accountant as her mentor.

Olakunrin,80, died on Sunday after reportedly slumping during a church service.

She was the first female chartered accountant in sub-Saharan Africa and once served as president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

Adeosun, in a statement from her media office shared with TheCable, said the former chairman of the Education Trust Fund (ETF) was “a professional mother and cherished mentor that impacted positively on a generation of women chartered accountants”.
