Lionel Messi is set to join Inter Miami FC in the United States Major League Soccer (MLS) after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.

The Argentine legend rejected a more lucrative offer from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia to take the American deal.

Messi is leaving PSG after two chaotic years at the Paris-based club where he got booed on several occasions, including his last match for the club in which they squandered a two-goal lead to lose 3-2.

The Argentina FIFA World Cup 2022 winning captain had announced his impending departure from the French League earlier and was thought to be on his way back to Barcelona, his former club where he commands legendary status — before Inter Miami made a lucrative offer.

According to BBC, the 35-year-old forward received no good offer from Europe and settled for the MLS side after rejecting the Saudi offer.

The Inter Miami deal involves collaboration with Adidas, sports merchandise giants, and Apple, a leading US technology company.

Playing in the US should not faze the seven-time Ballon D’Or winner who should settle in quickly in the City where he already owns a house.

Messi, who scored 32 goals in 75 matches for PSG, will join an Inter Miami side co-owned by David Beckham but currently managerless and languishing at the bottom of the league.
