Sani Usman, the spokesman of the division 7 of the Nigerian army in Maiduguri, has said that the 24-hour curfew imposed on Maiduguri would be lifted on Monday morning.
He said residents of the capital of the worst-hit state affected by the insurgency, were free to go about their business as from 6 am on Monday.
“Please be informed that the curfew will last till 6 a.m. tomorrow morning,” Usman said.
“Therefore, people can go about their legitimate businesses as from 6 a.m. in the morning.”
Boko Haram launched an attack on the town a few hours after President Goodluck Jonathan departed the town, where he went to seek support for his reelection bid.
Some members of Jonathan’s advanced campaign team, who intended returning to Abuja got stranded as a result of the attack.
The military has successfully repelled the insurgents from taking over Maiduguri.
