Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed two “terrorists” during a clearance operation at Kana village in Biu LGA of Borno state.

In a statement on Saturday, the army said the troops in collaboration with hybrid forces neutralised the terrorists on April 19.

The army said the troops encountered the terrorists around Nguma village, adding that two AK-47 rifles, one motorbike, six bicycles, and other abandoned items were recovered.

In another operation conducted in Abuni village, Awe LGA of Nasarawa, the troops raided hideouts of suspected criminals and recovered some weapons.

“The operation led to the recovery of 2 AK-47 rifles, 2 AK-47 magazines, and 35 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special),” the statement reads.

“The recovered weapons were found in the residence of one Mr Abdullahi Musa, leading to the arrest of  other suspects.”

The army added that it is committed to ensuring the safety of the citizens and urged members of the public to support the troops with useful information for the success of the ongoing operation.

Recently, eight fighters of the Islamic States of West African Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram members were killed during a raid by troops of the Nigerian Army on their enclave in Borno forest.
