Adeyinka Adeniyi, trade marketing consultant, MTN Abuja, on Friday said the SIM registration process would continue until all customers were registered.

Adeniyi disclosed this in a telephone interview with NAN.

“We are serving the people and we will wait to register everybody until we finished registering all our customers,” he said.

“We have empathy for our subscribers and will wait till it is convenient for all of them.”

Adeniyi said over 3000 subscribers were registered daily at the JD Leisure Centre, an MTN Mega registration centre, in Abuja.

He said although the crowd had reduced drastically, people were still coming for the registration.

Some of the subscribers, who spoke to NAN, said they were happy that the crowd had reduced, but urged MTN to ensure that the correct data were registered.

Johnbull Okolie said: “I got the text four days ago that is why I am here to register my SIM.”

He appealed to the telco “to do the right things” in order to avoid calling subscribers back again for registration.

Elizabeth Kor said she was happy to be registered because after the registration, she would be given N10,000.

Recently, MTN sent text messages to some of its subscribers, directing them to visit its outlets to update their SIMs to meet the standard of the Nigerian Communications Commissions (NCC).

SIMs registration started officially on March 28, 2011, but MTN started a fresh registration to meet with the directive of the NCC.
