The insistence of Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo, on the procurement of arms for Amotekun, the south-west security outfit, dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch says the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Sa’ad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto, have warned political parties and their supporters against violence during the elections. The newspaper reports that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has set up a committee to manage forfeited assets.

The newspaper reports that there is disquiet in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the choice of campaign spokespersons by Atiku Abubakar, the party’s flagbearer.

The newspaper says Ayo Adebanjo, leader of Afenifere, has explained why the Yoruba group is supporting Peter Obi, presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), for president.

Daily Sun says the list of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council has worsened the crisis in the party. The newspaper reports that the tribunal has granted INEC, PDP and Ademola Adeleke, governor-elect of Osun, seven days to file their responses.
