Newspaper Headlines: Crisis hits Eko DisCo as chairman, directors disagree on MD’s sacking

Reports on the burial ceremony of the 17 soldiers killed in Okuama community of Delta state, dominate the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that President Bola Tinubu has insisted that the killers of 17 soldiers in Delta state must be arrested to face the wrath of the law. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has faulted the reelection of Julius Abure as the national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), the newspaper says.

The Guardian reports that about 16 political parties are yet to disclose their expenditure during the 2023 election as mandated by the Electoral Act of 2022. The newspaper says Femi Falana, human rights lawyer, has threatened to file a lawsuit against Godswill Akpabio, senate president, if Abdul Ningi, suspended senator, is not reinstated within seven days.

THISDAY reports that President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of the presidential economic coordination council (PECC). The newspaper says Aliko Dangote, billionaire businessman and president of the Dangote group, has donated 80,000 bags of rice to Lagosians.

 

Daily Trust reports that bodies of the 17 soldiers and officers of the Nigerian Army, who were killed in Delta state on March 14, 2024, have been buried at the military cemetery, Abuja. The newspaper says LP has announced that it has reserved its 2027 presidential ticket for Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra.
