Newspaper Headlines: FG, governors agree to sell five power plants to fund 2023 budget

The controversy trailing the cash withdrawal limit policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch says the house of representatives has insisted that the CBN must not proceed with its cash withdrawal policy. The newspaper reports that the federal government and the 36 state governors have finally agreed to sell five power plants under the National Integrated Power Projects and use the proceeds to fund the 2023 budget.

The Nation reports that Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has unveiled a funding strategy for infrastructure revolution in the south-south geopolitical zone. The newspaper says Doyin Okupe has resigned as the director-general of the Labour Party (LP) presidential campaign council.

THISDAY reports that the CBN and other groups have expressed concern over the plot to arrest Godwin Emefiele, governor of the CBN. The newspaper says President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that the auctioning of the 5G spectrum generated $547 million revenue.
