Newspaper Headlines: FG will merge agencies — NOT sack workers, says Zainab Ahmed

The warning of President Muhammadu Buhari to the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the crisis in the party ahead of the 2023 elections appeared on the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation says Buhari has asked APC leaders to put their house in order so as to retain power in 2023. The newspaper reports that the federal government has said there is no plan to sack federal workers.

The Punch says the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is planning to deploy the Super Tucano aircraft against bandits. Zainab Ahmed, minister of finance, has explained that the federal government will merge agencies and not sack workers, the newspaper reports.

The Guardian says the Buhari-led administration will battle the backlash from the planned removal of petrol subsidy, 10 years after benefiting from the Occupy Nigeria protest. The newspaper reports that 19 people died and 26 injured in an auto-crash in Kano.
