Reports on the strike notice issued by organised labour, and the move to stem the current food inflation, dominate the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the federal government has disagreed with organised labour on its threat to declare a nationwide strike in the next 14 days over the alleged failure of the government to implement the agreement reached in October 2023. The newspaper says President Bola Tinubu has directed the ministry of housing and urban development to begin the construction of at least 2,400 housing units across the six geopolitical zones before December.

The Guardian reports that the federal government has ordered the release of 102,000 metric tonnes of rice and maize. The newspaper says Babatunde Fashola, former minister of works, said states should be allowed to determine their own minimum wage.

Daily Trust reports that Muslim and Christian leaders have called on authorities to provide food to people at the grassroots amid the high cost of food items.

THISDAY reports that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited said the transfer of their accounts to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) would not hinder its operations. The newspaper says the CBN has barred banks from referencing unaudited financial statements in sales promotion.
