Newspaper Headlines: NLC rejects N5,000 palliative for petrol subsidy removal

The controversy trailing the planned removal of petrol subsidy in 2022 by the federal government appeared on the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

 

The Punch reports that Nigeria will spend N6.732 trillion on petrol within a period of one year once the federal government removes the subsidy in February 2022. The newspaper says the senate has alleged that some officials of the federal civil service are engaging in secret recruitment.

Daily Sun reports that bandits are on the rampage in five communities in Niger state. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said the fraud in the banking sector is perpetrated by insiders, the newspaper says.
