The declaration of Bola Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election and the rejection of the results by opposition parties dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that Tinubu, president-elect, has extended an olive branch to his opponents, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party. The newspaper says the federal government has asked India to grant visa on arrival to Nigerians as a reciprocal gesture.

Daily Trust reports that Atiku and Obi said they will seek redress in court over the results of the presidential election. The newspaper says the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) said 32 states including the federal capital territory (FCT) may witness flooding this year.

The Nation reports that President Muhammadu Buhari said the results of the presidential election reflected the will of Nigerians. The newspaper says the federal executive council (FEC) has approved the African Union convention on cross-border cooperation.

THISDAY reports that Tinubu said his victory in the presidential election is a call to duty that cannot be ignored. The newspaper reports that senators have faulted the arguments of Ahmad Lawan, senate president, on the provisions of the electoral act regarding the electronic transmission of results.

The Guardian says Christian leaders have accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of dashing the hopes of Nigerians through its conduct in Saturday’s presidential election. The newspaper reports that Alhassan Doguwa, majority leader of the house of representatives, has been remanded in prison over alleged culpable homicide.
