Newspaper Headlines: Travellers stranded in Nigerian airports over travel restrictions

The suspension of visitor visa application by the UK government owing to concerns over the Omicron COVID-19 variant appeared on the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nations reports that travellers are stranded in Lagos and Abuja international airports over restrictions imposed owing to the Omicron COVID-19 variant. The newspaper says the federal government is working towards averting another strike by lecturers in public universities.

The Guardian reports that experts advised the federal government to reciprocate the decision of the UK government to halt visitor visa application. The newspaper says southern Kaduna youths have vowed to defend their communities against bandits.

Daily Independent says the federal government may fine airlines $3,500 per traveller in the revised travel protocol.
