Ben Bruce, a senator representing Bayelsa east, has called on Nigerians to stop comparing the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari with that of Goodluck Jonathan in the fight against Boko Haram.

Bruce expressed his belief that on Boko Haram, Nigeria needs to be united in purpose and ignore political power plays.

Speaking in the latest series of his commonsense videos on YouTube, Bruce said the efforts of the troops must be applauded.

“It is high time we stopped politicising the war on terrorism. What affects one, affects all. The killing of our brothers and sisters in the north east is our concern, and no effort is too much at tackling the surge of terrorism” he said.

“Only a united force, energised by love and self-interest can defeat this evil called terrorism. There is no need for comparison between the present and the past administrations in the fight against terrorism.

“When we win, Nigeria wins. When we lose, Nigeria losses. And since we have chosen to win, let’s put aside all forms and thoughts of primitive, ethnic and religious sentiments. It is high time we stopped blaming one another for our misfortunes.

“Let’s start celebrating our strength. Let’s support our armed forces.”

The ad-hoc senate spokesperson has been one of the most vocal Nigerian senators. In June, he announced his intention to donate his wardrobe allowance to unpaid workers in Osun state and widows in his constituency.
