The seventh match day of the new Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season produced some stunning results across multiple venues. 

Twenty-three goals were scored in a round of fixtures that produced two away wins.

Sporting Lagos 3-0 Kano Pillars

A brace from Junior Lokosa and a sublime finish by Jonathan Alukwu helped Sporting Lagos thrash Kano Pillars at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Monday.

The victory was the Lagos team’s third win of the season, and they moved to sixth on the table, with Pillars in 10th.

Bayelsa United 1-2 Lobi Stars

Tiza Iorwuese’s brace cancelled out Robert Mizo’s sixth goal of the season to secure a vital away win for Lobí at the Samson Siasia stadium on Monday.

Lobi sit at the league’s summit with 14 points after four wins, two draws and one loss.

Shooting Stars 4-1 Niger Tornadoes

Goals from Ayobami Adekunle, Ayodeji Bamidele, Adelowo Gbolagade and Kareem Ayinde sealed an emphatic victory for 3SC.

The Oluyole Warriors climb to third on the NPFL log with 13 points — just goal difference separating them and second-placed Enugu Rangers.

Gombe United FC 0-3 Doma United FC

Doma United steamrolled Gombe United 3-0 at the Pantami Township Stadium on Sunday.

Emmanuel Jesam scored a brace in the 54th and the 86th minutes of the game, while Emmanuel Ekpenyong scored in the 52nd minute to decide the first leg of the season’s Gombe Derby.

Abia Warriors FC 2-1 Katsina United FC

Dehinde Ibrahim scored twice as the Warriors edged Katsina United at the Umuahia township stadium on Sunday.

Although Afeez Falolu pulled one back for the away team, it was too little, too late.

Enugu Rangers 2-0 Heartland FC

Goals from Kazwem Ogunleye and Kenneth Igboke secured a solid victory for Rangers at the Akwa City stadium.

Other results: Bendel Insurance defeated Remo Stars 1-0, and Enyimba secured the same scoreline against Kwara United. Rivers United played out a one-all draw against Sunshine Stars, while Akwa United and Plateau United fixture finished goalless.
