NPFL: Sunshine Stars maintain top spot after win
Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leaders Sunshine Stars recorded their sixth league win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Kwara United at the Akure Township Stadium.
Paul Onobi scored the only goal of the match after taking advantage of slack defending from the visitors in the 31st minute.
Sunshine Stars remained on top of the log with 20 points after the end of match day 10 as the league goes on a three-week break to resume June 14th.
Giwa moved to second place on the table after they held hosts Sharks to a 1-1 draw in Port Harcourt. The Jos-based team now have 17 points.
League champions Kano Pillars beat Gabros 2-1 and Bayelsa defeated Wikki 1-0 while Lobi Stars earned their first win of the season after beating Heartland 1-0.
