The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC) says it has arrested the former wife of Mamman Nur, a factional Boko Haram leader in Borno state.

Ibrahim Abdullahi, NSCDC commandant in the state, disclosed this while speaking with reporters on Tuesday.

He said his men arrested two female suspects in Maiduguri, the state capital, on Friday.

Abdullahi said at first they were suspected to be suicide bombers but that findings revealed that the two suspects were from Sambisa forest, and were heading to Kangarwa camp to meet the factional leader of the sect.

“One of the suspect claimed that she is the ex-wife of the factional Boko Haram leader,” he said.

“They said they escaped from a camp in Sambisa forest after Nigerian troops attack the terrorists.”

Abdullahi said the suspects were abandoned by the Boko Haram commander who asked them to wait in Maiduguri pending the time he would provide them accommodation.
