Olasehinde Kumuyi, chief judge of Ondo state, has set up a seven-man panel to investigate the allegations of impeachable offences levelled against Alli Olanusi, the deputy governor of the state.

Olanusi is being accused of gross misconduct, financial misappropriation, absenteeism from official duties and causing political disaffection in the cabinet of Olusegun Mimiko, governor of the state.

On Wednesday, the house directed Kumuyi to set up the panel after Olanusi had been served with his impeachment notice, which was signed by 20 of the 26 lawmakers in the assembly.

The panel, which is chaired by Olatunji Adeniyan, has Aladesanmi Akingbade, Ademola Ekundayo, Richard Obafemi, Abraham Mathew, Ibrahim Shodeinde and Eunice Obadele, as members.

Olanusi fell out with Mimiko after defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from  the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) two days before the 2015 presidential election, which was won by candidate of his new party, Muhammadu Buhari.
