‎Gunmen have abducted Zakari Mohammed-Sada, an external auditor with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

He was abducted on the Abuja-Kaduna highway around 5pm on Saturday.

His attackers were said to have opened fire. A stray bullet reportedly hit a woman in one of the vehicles on the road during the incident.

A source said Sada was returning to Kaduna from Abuja when he was attacked.

The kidnappers have reportedly contacted his family members, demanding an undisclosed amount as ransom.

When contacted, Mustapha Mohammed, deputy spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, said he could not confirm the attack but promised to call back.

Musa had not fulfilled his promise as of the time this report was filed.

Last month, the police deployed 600 officers along the Kaduna-Abuja highway to check the activities of kidnappers and armed robbers.

Despite the security measure, the area has remained unsafe.
