The All Progressives Congress (APC) says the attack on the convoy of Samuel Ortom, Benue governor, should not be politicised.

On Saturday, gunmen suspected to be herdsmen attacked Ortom’s convoy while on a visit to his farm.

The attack has elicited criticisms from various quarters, including his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) colleagues and northern governors’ forum.

Reacting on Sunday, the APC said it is confident that security agencies will bring the culprits to book.

John James Akpanudoedehe, caretaker, APC convention planning committee, said the party “condemns the attack on the convoy of the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom. We thank God for his safety and praise the dutiful security details for repelling the attack.

“We are confident our security services will do everything to unravel the criminals behind the attack and bring them to book.

“The APC reiterates that we must all collaborate to end criminality in all forms. A crime is a crime and should not be politicised in any way.”
