Temilolu Ashamu, Oyo commissioner for energy and mineral resources, says the state has commenced the process of establishing 40 mini power grids to complement power generation from the national grid.

Speaking with journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo capital, the commissioner stated that the initiative will serve the people in the rural areas and government establishments in the state.

Ashamu said arrangements have almost been concluded with Shell company to install gas pipelines that will power the mini grid project, and thereby decentralise power production in the state.
