President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday, met with some All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains at the presidential villa.

Abdullahi Adamu, APC national chairman, and Kashim Shettima, vice-presidential candidate of the APC, were among party chieftains at the meeting.

Others present were Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Atiku Bagudu, governor of Kebbi, and Idris Wase, deputy speaker of the house of representatives.

Meanwhile, there were concerns over the absence of Bola Tinubu, APC presidential candidate, at the meeting.

However, Tunde Rahman, spokesman to the APC presidential candidate, said Tinubu was not supposed to be at the meeting with the president.

“H.E. Asíwájú Tinubu was not meant to be there. President Buhari was the first to give his zeal of approval to the APC presidential ticket of H.E. Asíwájú Tinubu and H.E. Senator Kashim Shettima,” Rahman told TheCable in a statement.

“And only on Wednesday, Asíwájú and the APC leadership publicly unveiled Senator Shettima at the Yar’Adua Centre. So, the party leadership decided to also follow-up with a visit to the Presidential Villa with Senator Shettima.

“It was the collective decision of the party and Senator Shettima that Asíwájú doesn’t need to be there. That is the way it is. There is no point making an issue out of this.”
