Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra, on Wednesday visited the Okpoko community in the state to assess the progress of ongoing road projects.
Soludo expressed satisfaction with the asphalt work on Obodoukwu road and Ojoto street.
He announced plans to construct 14 kilometres of roads in Okpoko and promised that residents would see significant improvements by the end of the following week.
The governor also listed other plans for Okpoko, including the provision of piped-borne water, a general hospital, and improved street lighting.
During the inspection, Soludo ordered the removal of illegally constructed fencing obstructing pedestrian walkways at a market.
He assured residents that the ongoing teacher recruitment will benefit Okpoko’s public schools, with additional personnel and improved learning facilities.
Evarist Ubah, the governor’s special adviser on markets commended the Soludo’s efforts to improve infrastructure and address the needs of Okpoko residents.
Ubah maintained that Soludo’s commitment to providing essential services, enhancing safety, and investing in education signifies a focus on comprehensive development for the area.
The governor was accompanied by a delegation of state officials, including Ifeanyi Okoma, commissioner for works; Chinedu Nwoye Glamour, chief of protocol; Ben Chiobi, special adviser on security; Emeka Okonkwo, managing director (MD) of Anambra Road Maintainance Agency (ARTMA) and Mike Okonkwo, MD Anambra Urban Regeneration Council, among others.
