The Plateau state government has established a security and information centre (SIC) to provide residents with access to report developments in their locations.

Caleb Mutfwang, the governor, said the centre will bridge the communication gap between the public and the government and enable the state to address its security challenges.

In a statement on Thursday, Gyang Bere, his director of press and public affairs, said the governor spoke during the inauguration of the centre.

He said the centre, established by the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA), is adopting a toll-free hotline for information sharing.

The centre will serve as a channel for the government to obtain early warning signals and intervene promptly.

Plateau has been witnessing continuous deadly attacks in some communities in Mangu LGA among others.

In April, many residents were killed after an attack on at least four communities in Mangu and Bokkos LGAs of the state.

Speaking on a Twitter space in June, Mutfwang had alleged plots to demarket the state with the incessant attacks.

In July, gunmen killed nine persons and razed six houses in Sabon Gari community.

As a result of the killings, the army deployed more manpower and equipment to address the situation.

A special operation, “Operation Hakorin Damisa IV”, was also launched in the state to combat the menace.
