Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau, says a committee has been constituted for the resettlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the state.

Mutfwang spoke on Wednesday during a visit to communities in Riyom and Mangu LGAs recently attacked by suspected terrorists.

Plateau is one of the northern states battling security challenges that have resulted in the killing and displacement of many residents.

He said the committee would be high-powered and led by Josephine Piyo, deputy governor of the state.

“I want to assure you that you all are going to be well taken care of and subsequently returned to your ancestral homes,” NAN quoted Mutfwang as saying.

The governor said he would revisit the land-grabbing law and also look into the anti-land-grabbing task force.

He urged residents to live peacefully with one another regardless of religion and tribe.

In May, over 30 persons were reportedly killed by gunmen in an attack on Bwoi, Mangu LGA of the state.

Also, Keoleh Saleh, president of the Baptist conference in Plateau, had earlier said 50 members of the church were killed by bandits during recent attacks in Mangu and Bariki Ladi LGAs.

Saleh also said over 500 women and children from the region were displaced as a result of the attacks.
