Player kills referee, injures colleague over red card
An Argentine amateur footballer killed a referee and injured another player after he was given a red card during a match on Sunday.
According to MirrorSport, the incident took place in the Campo de la Ribera area of Cordoboa, Argentina.
The police said Cesar Flores, the referee, was shot three times – in the head, neck and chest.
The assailant, who is now on the run, was said to have picked the gun from his bag after he was sanctioned for making a heavy tackle on an opponent.
He also wounded Walter Zarate, another player, before escaping.
“It all happened during the match. We don’t know what happened with the referee but the player was angry and went to get his gun and killed him,” a police spokesman said.
