The Nasarawa police command says it has arrested 38 persons over alleged public disturbance after the supreme court delivered judgment on the governorship election dispute in the state.

On Friday, the apex court affirmed Abdullahi Sule as the duly elected governor of Nasarawa, sparking a protest in Lafia, the Nasarawa capital.

The protesters burnt tyres and blocked the expressway to Jos, capital city of Plateau state.

Ramhan Nansel, spokesperson of the Nasarawa police command, said the suspects were immediately charged to court and remanded at the Lafia custodial centre.
