Ikechukwu Ani, spokesman of the police service commission (PSC), says Isah Misau, senator representing Bauchi central, followed due process in retiring from the police.

The police had declared Misau a deserter shortly after he accused Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police (IGP), of collcting bribes.

While refuting the allegation, Jimoh Moshood, force public relations officer, accused the senator of “forging” his retirement letter from the police.

In a bid to check the authenticity of the letter, the police commission invited Misau but he did not honour the invitation.

Speaking with TheCable, the police commission spokesman said the senator’s retirement letter was based on a recommendation from the police headquarters.

He said the probe panel confirmed that the commission issued the letter.

“Yes,  they called  me and I confirmed that the commission issued the letter dated 5th march 2014 to take effect from 1st December 2010. It was based on a recommendation from force headquarters,” Ani said.

“So his retirement followed due process.  He however did not appear  before the committee.  But the committee and confirmed that the commission issued the letter.”
