The federal capital territory (FCT) police command says its operatives have rescued four persons abducted in Abuja.

Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson of the FCT police command, who spoke in Abuja on Monday, said three persons were rescued on Sunday after a distress call to Karmo divisional police headquarters by one Peter Ede.

Adeh said the police were alerted that some armed men attacked and abducted three worshippers while praying at Idu Gbagyi Mountain in the Karmo area of Abuja at about 1:50 a.m.

She said upon receipt of the report, police operatives from the Karmo division swiftly mobilised to the scene and rescued three persons after a gun battle with the abductors.

“It was in the process that the three victims, Igbodi Emeka, Precious Uche and Eric Chukwudi were rescued unhurt,” the police spokesperson said.

Adeh said police operatives from Iddo divisional headquarters, on January 28, also rescued one Joshua Eze who was abducted at Sabon Lugbe area of Abuja.

She said police received a distress call on January 27 at about 11:30 p.m. after residents heard gunshots around the Sabon Lugbe area.

“Police patrol team was drafted to the scene where they met one Blessing Eze with a bullet wound on her shoulder inside a Toyota Corolla car with registration number RSH 724 KC,” she said.

“The said Blessing explained that she and her husband were returning home when some hoodlums in a vehicle blocked their vehicle, shot at them and abducted her husband.

“In response, operatives of the special intervention squad (SIS), police anti-kidnapping unit of the command and other tactical sections swung into action and the victim was rescued unhurt at Kuje forest.”
