The Kaduna police command says its officers have killed a notorious “bandit” in Kidandan village of Giwa LGA of the state.

Mohammed Jalige, the command’s spokesperson, said the bandits, who were dressed in military camouflage, were sighted during one of the command’s routine patrols on Sunday.

He said the police, thereafter, engaged the bandits in a gun duel while chasing them.

“Today, May 7, at about 10:30hrs, operatives attached to 47 Police Mobile Force (PMF) deployed to Kaya on routine patrol along Fatika Road sighted a gang of bandits riding on motorcycles, dressed in military camouflage,” he said.

“In the process, one bandit, dressed in military camouflage, was neutralised while others escaped with varying degrees of bullet wounds. One bandit’s operational motorcycle was recovered.”

Jalige added that “aggressive patrols” along the road have been intensified to forestall future occurrences.
