Kanayo Uzuegbu, the commissioner of police in Enugu, says the command will adopt a more proactive approach in its policing technique and ensure that “unrepentant criminals are ruthlessly dealt with”.

In a message signed by Daniel Ndukwe, the police public relations officer in the state, the commissioner urged criminal elements to use the opportunity of the New Year to turn a new leaf.

He appreciated the people of Enugu for their support in 2023 and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property in the state.

“The command appreciates the government and citizens of Enugu state for the support given to the police in the fight against crimes and criminality in the year 2023,” Uzuegbu said.

“The remarkable policing feats attained by the command would not have been possible without the unalloyed support given to it by the government, under the leadership of Governor Peter Mbah, security stakeholders and the law-abiding citizens of Enugu state.

“I, therefore, thank and wish all and sundry a more peaceful and prosperous New Year, 2024.

“In doing this, the command shall adopt a more proactive and innovative policing approach that will bring about a safer, more secure and more peaceful Enugu state.”
