Dikko Radda, governor of Katsina, has condemned the killing of some residents in some parts of the state by bandits.

On Monday, bandits attacked Sayaya village in Matazu LGA of the state, killing five persons and abducting seven.

On November 6, over nine persons were killed during an attack on a procession of Maulud celebrants at Rugar Kusa village in Musawa LGA of the state.

The bandits invaded the village in large numbers and began shooting at the people who were celebrating Maulud.

Maulud is a celebration of the day the Islamic Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is reported to have been born.

Bala Salisu-Zango, Katsina commissioner for information and culture, said the governor, during a condolence visit to Musawa LGA, described the incident as “profoundly shocking”.

The Katsina governor commiserated with the people of the affected communities and reiterated his administration’s determination to chase and defeat bandits terrorising the state.

“I am profoundly shocked by the large-scale killing of innocent people by wicked and heartless bandits in some of our communities,” NAN quoted Radda as saying.

“Let me use this opportunity to express my sympathy to the people of these communities, the family members of the victims and people of Katsina State at large for the losses.”

He added that no stone would be left unturned in his administration’s commitment to fight banditry, restore peace and stability in the state.
