The house of representatives on Thursday interrogated the service chiefs over the rising insecurity in Nigeria.
The head of the security agencies were at the green chamber to brief lawmakers on their efforts in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
During the meeting which was held behind closed doors, the lawmakers were said to have expressed concerns over the rising insecurity and demanded to know efforts being made to address it.
The service chiefs were summoned last week after fresh killings were recorded in some states, mostly in the north.
The house had also invited the chief of defence staff and the director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS) to brief it on the security situation of the country.
Some of the lawmakers had tackled the executive for allegedly failing to implement their previous resolutions on addressing insecurity.
Apart from bandits and Boko Haram insurgents who launched attacks recently, a number of Nigerians were also kidnapped including a naval officer in Ondo and travellers along Lokoja-Abuja expressway.
On Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari issued a warning to the bandits who he asked to surrender or be killed.
