Rescued Chibok girl flies presidential jet to Aso Rock

Amina Ali, the Chibok schoolgirl rescued from the captivity of Boko Haram on Wednesday, was conveyed to Aso Rock in a presidential jet.

Ali arrived the villa at 2:46pm in the company of her baby, her mother and her brother.

She was led to the presidential villa by Kashim Shettima, Borno state governor, according to NAN.

Abba Kyari, chief of staff to the president, took Shettima, Ali, and her child to the president’s office for a closed-door meeting.

Security men shielded the girl and her baby, who were dressed in hijab, from reporters.

The military handed Ali over to the governor late Wednesday.

She was flown from Damboa, a Borno town, where she was interrogated, to Maiduguri, where she was handed over to the state government.

“She was airlifted by Nigeria Air Force Super Puma aircraft  from Damboa to Maiduguri alongside her baby and supposed husband, Mohammed Hayatu,” Sani Usman, spokesman of the army, said in a statement.

Ali is the first Chibok girl to be rescued.

A total of 276 girls were abducted from Government Secondary School, Chibok, on April 14, 2014, while 57 managed to escape, the remaining have been in captivity.

Shortly after their abduction, Abubakar Shekau, leader of the sect, released a video saying they had been married off.
