Princess Catherine the duchess of Cambridge has birthed a baby girl at the private Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Private Hospital, Paddington London.

As planned, the announcement was first published on its website then on Twitter two minutes later via the monarchy account @kensingtonRoyal.

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am.

The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.

The duchess went in to a labour in the early hours of Saturday and was admitted to the hospital at 6am London time, accompanied by her husband Prince William Duke of Cambridge.

The new Royal …. Shares a birthday with other celebrities such as David Beckham, fashion designer Donatella Versace and Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson.

The baby is the fourth in line to the throne, after the Prince of Charles, Prince William and his first child Prince George. Prince Harry Prince William’s brother will now drop down to fifth in line to the throne.

Recent changes to the law’s governing succession make no difference as regards the baby’s sex because boys no longer have precedence over girls in line to throne.

The birth of the baby is also expected to give David Cameron the British Prime Minister who is seeking re-election a Royal baby bounce in the polls as a result of the nationwide feel good factor that comes with the birth of a royal baby.

Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted: “Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their baby girl. I’m absolutely delighted for them.”

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg tweeted that he and his wife Miriam wished the family “all the best”.

And Labour leader Ed Miliband wrote: “Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess on the birth of their daughter. Wishing them lots of joy and happiness – and hopefully some sleep!”
