Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, has confirmed the death of one person at the Reddington hospital in the state.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Sanwo-Olu said he cannot confirm if the deceased was a protester.

This is coming a few minutes after the governor said no fatality was recorded in the Lekki incident.

He said he visited the hospitals and mortuaries in the state to check on victims.

“Information reaching us now is that a life was lost at Reddington Hospital due to blunt force trauma to the head. It is an unfortunate and very sad loss,” Sanwo-Olu said.

“This is an isolated case. We are still investigating if he was a protester.”

On Tuesday, security operatives opened fire on unarmed protesters at Lekki tollgate in the state, wounding many and some feared dead.

The incident caused an uproar, within and outside the country.

Sanwo-Olu blamed “forces beyond his direct control” for the attack on #EndSARS protesters.
